Sometimes your laptop may detect hardware changes (this can even be triggered by updated) that will cause it to boot into bitlocker recovery mode. You will need to enter the bitlocker recovery key to get back into your laptop. This article reviews how you can retrieve your bitlocker recovery key to bypass bitlocker recovery if your laptop gets stuck on it upon booting it up.
Steps:
- On any other device, open https://myaccount.microsoft.com and sign into your EmpowerMe office account.
- Once signed in, select "My Account" and then "Devices" on the left hand menu:
- Find your laptop and select "View keys"
- Select "View recovery key" making sure the Bitlocker recovery key ID matches the one you see on your laptop screen:
- It will then show you the 48 digit recovery key that you need to enter in your laptop to get back to the login screen.
